30. SEO: Inbound Links

Inbound links play a crucial role in search engine rankings. It was actually this link structure that originally gave Google such a fast head start on existing search engines (at that time) like Yahoo! Google looks at two layers of links, meaning that a link from a website that itself has numerous inbound links is more valuable than a link from a website that has no inbound links itself. The analysis if this link structure became the cornerstone of the Google Pagerank algorithm, and the basis of Google’s search results. It’s very important that you understand the importance of links so you can take the steps necessary to encourage others to link to your content online.
