32. SEO: Diagnostic Tools

There are a variety of search engine optimization (SEO) diagnostic tools that are freely available online. This chapter introduces three of them, each providing different insights into the effectiveness of your website. Google Webmaster Tools, the first diagnostic tool discussed, will show you what errors Google encountered as it indexed your website. It also offers some tools to help you manage how your website interacts with search engines. SEO Broswer does an excellent job of showing you exactly what search engines see when they index your website, often revealing untapped opportunities in tagging and meta description. And Website Grader, the third tool discussed, evaluates your website from a larger context. It looks at your visibility on social media platforms and directories, among other things, providing dozens of opportunities to calibrate your online presence more effectively.
