5. Value Proposition

If you really think about it, you probably don’t sell what you THINK you sell. I mean, of course you sell whatever you sell. But that’s not what people pay for. Your customers are spending their money to alleviate some pain in their life. What is that pain? That emotional feeling your customers get when their pain goes away … that’s the essence of your value proposition. It’s the emotional feeling. And before you start marketing yourself online (or offline), you need to fully understand what emotional feeling your product or service delivers. This chapter offers some interesting examples to get you thinking. And once you really figure out what it is that you sell, the rest of your marketing falls into place much quicker.
