3. Belief Systems

Ah yes, the power of the subconscious mind. Sociologists claim the subconscious mind can absorb literally millions of observations in any given situation while the conscious mind can only make sense of about 40. Amazing. That means most of the decisions you make are a result of observations you’re not even consciously aware of. Scary. Belief systems are a major part of this reality. If, deep down inside, you don’t truly believe you deserve success, you will subconsciously find ways to sabotage yourself and prevent the success. Why? Because the success is not yet a “safe place” for you. And to avoid danger and uncertainty, you will prevent the success you so desperately desire. Sound crazy? Perhaps, but this chapter offers some pretty startling examples that might make you rethink your position.
