69. LinkedIn: Google Ranking

Some websites are more “search engine friendly” than others. LinkedIn is one of the search engine friendly ones. If you Google your own name, there are good odds your LinkedIn profile will appear close to the top (unless you have an extremely common name). Anyway, that represents an opportunity, not just for optimizing your own name but also for optimizing all the technical and highly specialized terms in your business. Your profile has a “specialties” section and every one of your past jobs has a “summary” section. Load those sections with technical and highly-specialized keywords and you might start getting found by qualified prospects who know enough to use those words in their Google searches. This chapter discusses the process.
