74. Facebook: Places & Deals

First, there was Foursquare. Then, “check-in” became so popular that Yelp introduced it too. Then Google announced it was working on similar functionality. And then finally, Facebook jumped into the race and introduced “places” and “deals”. With over 500 million users, there’s no question Facebook will eventually dominate the local “check-in” market and it offers businesses an incredible way to engage with their internet savvy customers. Not only can you get your business listed in the Facebook location-based database but you can also offer special “deals” for certain types of activity. This chapter reviews the options and offers suggestions on how to get started.
